Craig Wedren, a musician and composer, known for his work with the band Shudder to Think and as a film and television composer, has announced the release of a new EP titled "Second Sleep." The EP features six short, mostly improvised songs recorded late at night on the piano and vocals. Wedren, who has had a busy year with the release of the original score for the SHOWTIME series "YELLOWJACKETS" and the continuation of his "Sabbath Sessions" series, described the EP as coming from a half-conscious place and being influenced by his experiences with difficulty sleeping.
Weezer - SZNZ: Winter
📦 Vinyl & CD | 🎧 Apple Music
Weezer has released its final EP in a series of four, "SZNZ: Winter", which marks the end of a highly productive year for the band. The EP features the signature power-pop sound of past albums, enhanced by symphonic strings and orchestral arrangements, and reflects on the often lonely feelings associated with the winter season. The EP was released on the first day of winter and was made possible by technological advancements in the music industry that allowed for faster recording and uploading processes. The changes in the industry have also made it more confusing for artists, as there is no longer a clear playbook for success. Still, frontman Rivers Cuomo sees it as liberating and an opportunity for creativity.

Love Battery - Dayglow
Lumped in with fellow grunge roster mates on Sub Pop, Love Battery delivered psychedelic-tinged guitar rock on their 1992 debut Dayglo.
Though Love Battery emerged from the Seattle scene with numerous connections and an ascendant Sub Pop label backing them, the band never managed to break through to the mainstream like their various label mates. Their 1992 debut Dayglo may shed some light on the reasons why. The guitars are loud, loud, loud, sometimes overpowering the other instruments the way James Williamson would in The Stooges, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Thanks to a group of innovative, stellar musicians, the band is capable of fluidly moving from aggressive garage rock to punk indie rock without missing a beat.

In the record store, Tim and J were discussing their favorite albums.
"Have you listened to the Love Battery album?" Tim asked.
"I have," J replied. "It almost feels like it could be something modern or released today."
Willie chimed in, "Well, if you're into that kind of sound, you should definitely check out the 2018 album Beyondless by Iceage. I think you'll really enjoy it."
Phil, who was passing by, overheard their conversation. "Oh, that's a great record!" he said.
Kyle entered the store and joined the conversation. "Plowing Into the Fields of Love is even better, but Beyondless is still a solid album," he said. "'Pain Killer' with Sky Ferreira is a really cool tune."
"I know there are many who will agree with you," Willie said, "but I personally like Beyondless more. Iceage is such a cool band. I haven't heard a bad album from them yet."
