The first new album by the band since 'The Way' back in 2014, it's the first since co-founder and primary songwriter Pete Shelley passed away in 2018.
The Cult - Under the Midnight Sun
The new LP was inspired by frontman Ian Astbury’s experience at the Provinssirock festival in Finland, held at a location so far north that during the summer, the sun doesn’t set.

Le Tigre - Le Tigre
With Le Tigre, Kathleen Hanna ditched roaring punk guitars for drum machines and vintage keyboards on their self-titled 1999 debut album
An established artist starting a new musical project is always tricky, and the 90s were no different. Whether releasing a solo album or starting a new band, quality doesn't always matter when it comes to fans accepting a new sound or direction. After the amicable split of Bikini Kill in 1998, Kathleen Hanna returned a year later with the retro-inspired Le Tigre, forgoing punk bombast for dancier sounds rooted in homemade drum loops, Farfisa organs, 60s girl groups, 80s new wave, and electroclash. But that doesn't mean politics and social commentary take a back seat, as Hanna is as sharp lyrically as ever on the self-titled debut album while balancing pop melodies with a lo-fi approach. Group 3 Nominees
Richard Waterman: Midnight Oil-Earth and sun and moon
Classic Aussie band and album
Willie Dillon: Tracy Bonham-The Burdens of Being Upright
Fun, dynamic rock album with some explosive vocals.
Adam Smith: Critters Buggin-Host
Kyle Bittner: Chris Cornell-Sweet Euphoria
I do not believe that this has been covered before and you do not hear a lot of people mention this album when discussing Chris. Its always Soundgarden and that other band.
Gary Miron: Butthole Surfers-Independent Worm Saloon
This was the Butthole Surfers' first foray into mainstream rock success. Produced by John Paul Jones and released by Capitol Records, the songs are much more structured and focused than on earlier albums. They even scored a minor hit with "Who Was In My Room Last Night?" Though it still has experimental moments and a lot of chaotic energy, the more song-oriented approach led to the departure of bassist Jeff Pinkus.
Grady Heid: One Dove-Morning Dove White
Emma Wilson : 7 Year Bitch-Viva Zapata!
"From Wikipedia: ¡Viva Zapata! is the second album by the American punk band 7 Year Bitch. It was released June 28, 1994 on Seattle-based C/Z Records. It was their first record to feature new guitarist Roisin Dunne who had replaced Stefanie Sargent in 1992. The album's title is in tribute to The Gits' vocalist, and friend of the group, Mia Zapata, who was raped and strangled to death in July 1993. Some of the songs on this album relate to Zapata's murder directly (such as ""M.I.A."", which encourages vigilante justice for her killer) as well as Sargent's death by drug overdose (""Rock A Bye"").
A powerful punk punch playing in a grunge landscape, impactful and very of its time."
Gabriel Gutierrez: Morbid Angel-Covenant
Karl Foss: Gouds Thumb-Gouds Thumb
In my opinion, one of the Mt Rushmore Maine rock albums of the 1990s. Of the best Maine 90s albums, it's the one that most squarely fits the alt-rock formula.
Super catchy alt-rock. Mathew Sweet sings on the chorus of "29." It got a little bit of a major label push, but never broke through to the mainstream.
The only album released by the band. But, band leader Walter Craven would go on to for 6Gig."
