Karate – Make It Fit
Karate, the Boston-based post-hardcore and jazz-inflected indie rock band, is back with Make It Fit, their first album in 20 years. Known for blending genres like emo, punk, and jazz, Karate had a unique, slow-burning style. This reunion album brings ten new tracks that fuse their signature sound with fresh energy, mixed by longtime collaborator Andy Hong. Fans of their introspective, genre-blurring approach will find much to love. It’s a rare reunion for a band that’s been silent for two decades.
Susanna Hoffs – The Lost Record
Susanna Hoffs, co-founder of The Bangles, is releasing The Lost Record, an album she recorded back in 1999 but never released. Known for her role in creating 80s pop hits like “Manic Monday,” Hoffs showcases a more intimate, personal sound here. This album, recorded in her garage with contributions from friends like Charlotte Caffey and Jane Wiedlin of The Go-Go’s, provides a snapshot of her creative process post-Bangles. These tracks remained hidden for 25 years, offering fans a glimpse into her music's pivotal, unreleased era.
MC5 – Heavy Lifting
MC5, the legendary proto-punk band, returns with Heavy Lifting, their first new album in over 50 years. Known for their revolutionary energy and defiance in tracks like “Kick Out the Jams,” MC5 left an indelible mark on punk and rock history. This album, featuring collaborations with Tom Morello and Slash, was completed just before the passing of founding member Wayne Kramer, making it a bittersweet farewell. Heavy Lifting bridges the gap between generations of musicians inspired by MC5’s fearless approach to rock and activism.
Kylie Minogue – Tension II
Kylie Minogue, the queen of dance-pop, is back with Tension II, a sequel to her 2023 album Tension. Known for blending infectious pop with electronic beats, Kylie delivers another batch of high-energy tracks destined for the dance floor. This album features collaborations with Diplo and Tove Lo, pushing her signature sound even further into the electronic realm. Despite these tracks initially being offcuts from Tension, Tension II shows no drop in quality, offering a bolder and more inventive follow-up.
Jerry Cantrell – I Want Blood
Jerry Cantrell, lead guitarist of Alice In Chains, returns with I Want Blood, his heaviest solo effort in years. Known for his sludgy riffs and dark, brooding vocals, Cantrell has crafted a career-defining album that combines raw guitar energy with powerful storytelling. Collaborating with musicians like Robert Trujillo (Metallica) and Mike Bordin (Faith No More), Cantrell delves into darker themes with his signature haunting sound. Fans and critics alike have called it his best work since Degradation Trip in 2002.
Pinhead Gunpowder – Unt
Pinhead Gunpowder, the side project of Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong, returns with Unt, their first album in over 25 years. Known for their fast-paced, catchy punk rock, Pinhead Gunpowder has remained a cult favorite since the 90s. Unt promises a raw, DIY sound with sharp lyrics and energetic delivery that fans have been missing. It’s only their second full-length album, arriving 27 years after their debut, Goodbye Ellston Avenue, making it a rare and highly anticipated release.
