Paul Langlois Band - Guess What
"Guess What" is the debut album by the Paul Langlois Band, led by Paul Langlois of The Tragically Hip. The album was inspired by a performance at the closing ceremonies of the Canada Summer Games in Niagara Falls in August of 2022. The title track, which closes out the record, expresses Langlois' surprise that one gig could lead to the formation of a new band and a full record. The album features Langlois on lead vocals and rhythm guitar, along with bandmates Greg Ball on guitar and backing vocals, lead guitarist Joe Carscallen, Matt Mulvihill on bass, and drummer Billy Anglin. The album offers thoughtful, straight-up rock 'n' roll, with themes exploring our relationship with time. The opening track and lead single, "It Matters To Me," sets the tone for the album, which plays out like an often raucous meditation on time and its significance.
The Adolescents - Caesar Salad Days
"Caesar Salad Days" is the latest album by The Adolescents, a band that has played a significant role in establishing the blueprint for Orange County punk rock. This album marks the band's 43rd anniversary and is their first studio LP released on Frontier Records since "La Vendetta... è un piatto che va servito freddo" in 2014. The album, which features 15 tracks of aggressive hardcore punk, was recorded in May 2022 and produced by Scott Reeder. The Adolescents, still featuring original member Tony Reflex, continue to deliver the loud, fast rules that they are known for. The album's title, "Caesar Salad Days," was inspired by a humorous moment when the band was returning from Reeder’s Sanctuary Studios. The album's cover artwork was created by Paul Kostabi, a founding member of White Zombie.
Royston Langdon - President Alien
"President Alien" is a new album by singer/songwriter Royston Langdon, known for his work with the band Spacehog. The album is a reimagined version of Spacehog's acclaimed debut, featuring powerful, stripped-down, acoustic versions of the original songs. The first single from the album is "In The Meantime," which has also been featured in the latest Guardians Of The Galaxy blockbuster. The album was primarily recorded at The Beat Lab in West Yorkshire, UK, with the exception of "In The Meantime," which was recorded live at The Beat Lab in California. The album is produced by Royston Langdon and Bryce Goggin, mixed by Goggin, and mastered by Fred Kevorkian.
Filter - Obliteration
"Obliteration" is a new single by Filter, released as part of their upcoming album "The Algorithm". The single was released with an official animated music video. The song is described as an embodiment of existential chaos and human angst, expressed through power chords, heavy riffs, and a soaring, anthemic chorus. The lyrics, delivered by Filter frontman Richard Patrick, reflect themes of despair and destruction. The song was produced by Patrick and long-time collaborator Brian Virtue, and co-written by Patrick, Sam Tinnesz, Ian Scott, and Mark Jackson. The animated video for "Obliteration" was created by German-based filmmaker Atanas Shopski, and it carries the song's post-apocalyptic vision with an unsettling similitude. The album "The Algorithm" is set to be released on August 25 via Golden Robot Records.
Interpol - The Other Side of Make-Believe
"The Other Side of Make-Believe" is the seventh studio album by the American rock band Interpol through Matador Records. The album was produced by Mark "Flood" Ellis and mixed by Alan Moulder. It was recorded between September 2021 and January 2022 at Battery Studios in London. The album's title comes from the opening lyrics of the track "Passenger". The album was written entirely during the COVID-19 pandemic, marking the group's first writing sessions not in person. The songs "Toni", "Something Changed", "Fables", and "Gran Hotel" were released as singles in promotion of the album. The album has been described as having an uplifting sound, contrary to the band's typically gloomy tone.
George Lynch & Jeff Pilson - Sledgehammer
“Sledgehammer" is the first single from George Lynch & Jeff Pilson’s second album "Heavy Hitters II." The duo, known for their work in the band Dokken, have come together to create a covers album that showcases their unique take on various classic songs. The album, released by Deadline Music, a division of Cleopatra Records, features 11 tracks, each a new version of a well-known song by various artists. The first single, "Sledgehammer," sets the tone for the album, demonstrating the duo's ability to bring their own style to these classic hits.
The Hives - Rigor Mortis Radio - Single
"The Hives - Rigor Mortis Radio" is a single released by the Swedish rock band, The Hives. This track is part of their first new album in over a decade, "The Death Of Randy Fitzsimmons," which is set to be released in August. Prior to "Rigor Mortis Radio," the band had already shared the lead single "Bogus Operandi" and the follow-up "Countdown To Shutdown." The single "Rigor Mortis Radio" comes with a live visualizer that was filmed during their summer tour with Arctic Monkeys. The band's unique style and energy are evident in this track, showcasing their return to the music scene.

Glide - Open Up and Croon
Jangly American and Australian indie rock meets UK shoegaze and dream pop on Glide's 1995 debut album Open Up and Croon
The story of Glide is one of potential cut short with the death of lead singer William Arthur before the end of the decade. Commanding a voice with equal parts sneer and croon, the appropriately titled debut Open Up & Croon from 1995 manages to fuse a variety of sounds into a coherent vision. Jangly acoustic guitars accompany fuzzed electrics and a potent rhythm section across the twelve tracks that range from the uptempo title track opener to a wide array of moods, from the Westerbergian "Why You Asking?" to the more dramatic twists in turns on the back-half of the album like "Caterwaul" and closer "Picking At Your Paws."
