Armin van Buuren - A State of Trance 2023
The twentieth installment of the A State of Trance mix album series, titled 'A State of Trance 2023 (Mixed by Armin van Buuren),' showcases the diversity and boundary-breaking nature of trance music. In this release, tracks from artists such as Ahmed Helmy, Ben Gold, Bryan Kearney, Eelke Kleijn, Ferry Corsten, Luke Bond, Maarten de Jong, and Maddix are featured across three sides instead of the usual two. This expansive selection of tracks demonstrates that the essence of trance music extends beyond the once-imposed borders and reaches far and wide. The mix album encompasses a range of styles within the genre, from slower and melodic house and techno-infused tracks that evoke a beach vibe to the more intense and energetic Who's Afraid Of 138?! tunes that ignite the dance floor. 'A State of Trance 2023' celebrates the diversity of trance music, highlighting that it should not be confined to a single style but embraced for its ability to capture a particular feeling regardless of tempo or sound. This notion extends beyond music, suggesting that embracing diversity can lead to a better world overall.

Jets To Brazil - Orange Rhyming Dictionary
With Jets To Brazil's debut Orange Rhyming Dictionary, Blake Schwarzenbach expanded on the Jawbreaker sound with a heady post-hardcore twist
After the dissolution of Jawbreaker in 1996, lead singer and guitarist Blake Schwarzenbach spent the next year not playing music, but DJ'ing and writing video game reviews. But the itch to create came back with the help of former Texas Is The Reason drummer Chris Daly and Handsome singer Jeremy Chatelain on bass. Jets To Brazil isn't so much a reinvention as a natural evolution, leaving behind the sometimes rigid restraints of punk and hardcore, and exploring new sounds with keyboards and guitar effects. Thomas Andrew Doyle (TAD) - Interview
Thomas Andrew Doyle talks about SubPop’s early days and where TAD fits into grunge history
Formed in 1988 and one of the earliest acts to put out music on SubPop, TAD paved the way for bands like Nirvana and Soundgarden with their heavy and sludgy guitar noise. After releasing three albums on the infamous Seattle label, TAD put out two albums on majors, 1993’s Inhaler on Giant/Warner Bros and 1995’s Infrared Riding Hood on East West/Elektra before breaking up by the end of the decade. Lead singer Tad Doyle went on to front Hog Molly and Brothers of the Sonic Cloth before going the solo route and releasing albums that sound like SciFi-Horror soundtracks under his given name, Thomas Andrew Doyle.

This is great. And the first time I've ever seen anyone recommend Jets to Brazil. As much as I like "Orange Rhyming Dictionary," I think the next Jets to Brazil album, "Four Cornered Night" is the best album Blake Schwarzenbach ever made. I bet less than 10,000 people have ever heard it, and it's an essential album for me. A great example of buried treasure, perfect for "digging out."
